M&S models and iconic faces of the UK fashion industry, Twiggy and Erin O`Connor, joined M&S Chairman Stuart Rose to unveil Marks & Spencer`s anchor store at Westfield London – one of the biggest European retail developments this decade. M&S Chairman Stuart Rose said: “Westfield London is one of the most exciting retail schemes to be developed in recent years and we`re delighted to anchor the centre. We`ve risen to the challenge to produce an extra-special store with a raft of new design features that we hope our customers will love. It`s packed full of stylish, great value & exciting products making it the perfect place for Christmas shopping.” The 103,000 sq ft store offers customers an unrivalled M&S shopping experience with an extensive range of fashion and high-quality M&S food, as well as a choice of eateries. It has been developed with a number of new design features. Womenswear • Autograph is set in a dedicated boutique framed by Japanese-style screens. • Limited Collection appears on contemporary mannequins in an area featuring artwork created by Natasha Law exclusively for M&S. • An extensive per una section on the ground floor showcases the collection in newly designed surroundings. • Brand new fitting rooms appear across the store with generous reception areas featuring comfortable seating for friends and family. Menswear • Autograph appears in a boutique area and new-look mannequins showcase the collection on a central runway on the second floor. • A dedicated denim shop with a new labelling system – seen for the first time at M&S Westfield London, highlights fit and cut. • In the fully serviced footwear area customer assistants can offer advice on style and fit. Kate Bostock, M&S Executive Director of Clothing, said: “M&S at Westfield London is unique. Customers will find the great value M&S brands they adore, including Autograph, per una and Limited Collection, showcased in boutique-style settings with lovely finishing touches, like our licensed deli bar in womenswear, that make it extra special.” Design • Contemporary internal architecture and premium finishes such as ceramic tiled floors and linear lighting have been designed to draw the customer through the store. • Energy saving systems and equipment across refrigeration, lighting and heating have been fitted in line with Plan A, M&S` 100 point `eco` plan. • A state of the art Helio-stat in the central atrium draws natural light down through the levels reducing the need for artificial lighting.
